Bungle is a bean who inadvertently killed himself after using a clothes dryer as a hiding place.

About[]

Bungle was probably hiding behind a door the day brains were handed out. He likes to play hide-and-seek, but is a little bit dopey. Some would say he's the World Champion of hide-and-seek because, when Bungle hides, he's never found. Like the time he hid in the dumpster on rubbish collection day, or the time he hid in the clothes dryer. 'Come out, come out wherever you are, Bungle.' But he never does.

Appearance[]

Dryer guy

Bungle spinning in the dryer as he sings.

Bungle is a pink-colored character. He makes varying expressions during his stages in the clothes dryer. His size and body shape are unknown as he is never seen leaving it.

Video[]

In the video, Bungle is seen in the clothes dryer while making a silence gesture, confident that he cannot be easily found. The dryer is then activated by an unseen operator and it begins to rotate, much to his terror.

Melbourne International Film Festival[]

Miff

In the MIFF video, Bungle is one of the characters in the theater.

Game[]

Dumb Ways to Die (application)[]

In the game, Bungle was initially only an unlockable character, and did not appear in any minigames until a later update with its teaser. Bungle can be unlocked for the player's Train Station, as the 5th bean to arrive at the train station in both versions. In older versions of Dumb Ways to Die, the player have to score 600 points to get him, which is nothing compared to the 135200 points required to unlock him in the newer versions. He is also the 24th thing to be unlocked in newer versions.

Do or Dry

Unlocked by default

In the video-inspired minigame, the player must stop the dryer by circling their finger on the screen in the other direction he is spinning. If he's spinning clockwise, they have to circle their finger counter-clockwise and vice versa. If the player succeeds, the dryer stops, Bungle opens it and gives a thumbs up. If they don't stop the dryer, he dies in a bloody explosion.

Dial Trial

Unlock at 1155200 accumulated score

Bungle also has another game in which the player must turn the dryer off by rotating the 3 knobs for them to all point upwards. If the player turns off the dryer, Bungle opens it and reveals a t-shirt with "I (Heart) You" on it. If they don't get all three knobs to point upwards or none of the knobs are moved at all, he dies again in a bloody explosion.

Dumb Ways to Dye

Can't be unlocked at this point of time

Bungle has an Easter mini-game where you must paint an egg. If you use enough paint for the egg, everyone applauds Bungle, and he is pleased by his colorful egg. If not enough paint is used, or if you don't paint at all, Bungle will try to paint the egg, but cracks it on accident, and he gets disappointed and throws the egg away, accidentally hitting the button which activates his dryer. The door for the dryer then closes, chopping his arms off, and he dies in a bloody explosion.

Dumb Ways to Die 3: World Tour[]

Bungle is a Rare bean in Dumb Ways to Die 3: World Tour. His ability is Wishy Washy which counts +50% Score Multiplier. He can be rewarded after repairing the medium-sized house on the 3rd row left in Dumbgypt.

In the game, his dryer is shown to have wheels. He is also shown with his own vehicles in minigames except Culinary Chaos, and Flying Fiasco; for example:

  • In Rafty Rapids, Bungle is glitched and never rides on the boat, resulting in a seemingly uncontrolled vehicle.
  • In Pyramid Run and Flying Fiasco, he just faces the player while moving on wheels/by air.
  • In Pyramid Slide, Bungle just slides in his clothes dryer while facing the player.
  • In Culinary Chaos, his hand clips through the casing of the clothes dryer.
  • In Snow Safari, his clothes dryer is connected to skis.
  • In Castle Catastrophe, instead of a pogo stick, Bungle uses a spring connected to the clothes dryer.
    • However, the game still spawns a pogo stick when he is defeated.
  • In Pyramid Slide, on random occasions, he’ll open the clothes dryer door. In Pyramid Run, when he dies, his head is not seen. His model shows red parts around his body.

Kills[]

Light Bulb post: Crushes Stumble

Deaths[]

RedClothesDryer

Aftermath of Bungle's death.

  • Original video: Dies inside a running clothes dryer offscreen (debatable).
  • Do Or Dry, Dial Trial: Explodes bloodily in a running clothes dryer.
  • Dumb Ways to Dye: Attempts to paint an egg when it cracks, then throws the egg away. The egg turns on the clothes dryer he is in, chopping his arms off.
  • Microwave post: Tried heating himself in a microwave.
  • Tumbler Tumble: Crashes into a fence.
  • Hiding Hazard: Dies inside multiple appliances (offscreen).
  • Down With The Ship: Drowns in the ocean after his pirate ship sinks.

Trivia[]

Comparisons and Design[]

  • He and Doomed are pretty similar.
    • Both are Group Three Characters.
      • They are the "even numbers" of group three.
    • Both have unknown body shapes.
    • Both were killed by Unseen Characters (someone turned the dryer on while Bungle was in it).
    • Both have bloody deaths, as shown in the first game, and not in the video.
  • In the original video, Bungle is one of the four pink characters. The other pink characters are Stumble, Dippy and Dummkopf (before he got electrocuted).
  • In an early storyboard, he had an oval-shaped body, and his limbs were shown when he was spun around.
  • He is the only character in Group 3 that sings with a visible mouth.
    • He is also the only one in the group with a visible mouth in general - Clod appears briefly and obviously did not participate, and Numskull's mouth could be blown up with the rest of her head (except her eyeballs). Doomed stays in the bag so it's unknown if he's singing or not (his face and mouth are never seen).
  • He, Clod and Calamity are the only three characters who don't dance in the video at all.
  • He is the only pink character from the original video without a plush toy.
  • Despite being in the clothes dryer and killed offscreen, he doesn’t appear to have any injury in the chorus. The same goes with Doomed (although he’s in a bag, hit with the baseball bat, and bleeds in the app), Ninny (implying that he’s completely blown up, survives the explosion or the explosion didn’t happen in his area), and Clod (who doesn’t die, but kills someone).

General[]

  • He is never seen outside of his clothes dryer.
  • His dryer appears brown in his line of the song, but it appears gray in the chorus.
  • He is the only bean from the original music video to not appear in Dumb Ways to Dash!.
